Education is a life-long process. With this in mind, the EMSB offers a full range of academic programs for students looking to learn English or French, complete their secondary school or pre-requisites for CEGEP. Our adult education centres are conveniently located across the city.


We are centrally located in downtown Montreal close to Sherbrooke Metro.

Registration Documents for Basic English Courses

important! You must be 16 as of June 30, 2018 & Parent's signature on the registration form if you are not 18 years old.

born outside of Canada?

If you were born outside Canada, ONE of the following documents is required
  • Canadian Citizenship card
  • Permanent Resident card
  • Confirmation of Permanent Residency (IMM5292, IMM5688, IMM1000)
  • Certificat de selection du Quebec (CSQ) with category RA or R8 with a study permit
  • a Valid medicare card or drivers licence as proof of Quebec residency


If you were born in Quebec

  1. Quebec Birth Certificate, Long Version
  2. Valid medicare card or drivers licence as proof of Quebec residency


If you are born in Canada outside of Quebec

  1. Baptismal Certificate or Birth Certificate with parents' name
  2. Valid medicare card or drivers licence as proof of Quebec residency


Note: If you have obtained a Quebec High School Diploma or have graduated from a Quebec Vocational school you may not be able to register for our Basic English Classes. If you are born outside of Canada - a Valid medicare card or drivers licence as proof of Quebec residency is mandatory. Original documents; no photocopies accepted. All documents and fees are mandatory on the day of registration.



Basic English Courses: Times of Class

DAY CLASSES: Monday to Friday 8:45 A.M. to 12:45 P.M.

EVENING CLASSES: Monday to Thursday 5:30 P.M. to 9:30 P.M.

Basic English Course Cost $100.00 (Non Refundable)

$100.00 Books Included (Cash/Interac/Visa) Must be paid at time of registration.
